Esperas. It means hope.
So, you kind of have to admit it. You're here because you're a geek who works for a tech company, or you're into your wellness journey in a big way, or both. Whatever the case, you're likely doing pretty well. So are we. Which is why we're passionate about giving back.
We had an epiphany in 2015. We haven't spent our careers feeding the poor, housing the homeless, or curing the sick. We build expensive stuff for rich people, and we're good at it. While building some of that expensive stuff for our POI data, we realized there is no national database for people who help the needy and no app available for a person in that "uh oh" moment we all face from time-to-time. So first, we set about using our smarts to start building that stuff. Second, we embarked on something much more ambitious.
We decided to invest in training and hiring formerly houseless people in our community to learn code, design, and big data. The team for Esperas recently graduated from the recovery program at Seattle's Union Gospel Mission, and Remy, Jeremy, Alaina, and Shane started their journey late this winter.
